Current projects
- A Littorina EST database searchable from a web-interface with annotations and unigenes
- Bioinformatic assistance in the Heterobasidion annosum genome project.
- Phylogenetic trees based on AFLP data from large samples of collembolans
- Gene ontologies for fungal microarray data
- Examination of gene order conservation (synteny) among basidiomycetes.
- Examination of micro diversity in marine bacteria along Swedish coasts. In parallel chemostat experiments are carried on to investigate various aspects of marine bacteria.
- A study on nematodes and their environment.
Delivered projects
- RAMI, a software for clustering of sequences based on patristic distances.
- Development of software for detection of tRNAs in mitochondrial genomes in collaboration with Dean Laslett in Australia. tRNAs in mitochondrial genomes are highly degenerated and escape detection in commonly used software like tRNAscan-SE and ARAGORN.
- A comparison of protein sequence lengths between bacteria, archaea and eukaryota and the implications on proteome evolution. Unlike earlier studies, orthologues protein families are used which gives a less biased estimation of differences between the domains.
- A web application for avian primer design. The software maps 50000 zebra finch EST sequences to the completed genome of chicken. Introns are graphically presented. The system is built on the blastall application, the Apache Web Server and the MySQL Database Management System connected with cgi-scripts in Perl.
